Did You Know?

PNANC was one of the charter members of the National Organization of Philippine Nurses Association in the United States (now PNAA) . It is therefore one of the the founding chapters of the now PNAA.

PNANC paved the impetus of holding collaborative international conferences with the Philippine Nurses Association. Held the first ever International Nursing Conference. PNANC independently initiated the first International Nursing Conference. At the national convention in San Antonio, Texas in 1994, the PNANC challenged the PNAA that this collaborative project should be initiated by the PNAA. The first ever PNAA International Conference has been held biennially since 1996 during the term of Carmen Galang.

PNANC was the chapter to conceptualize the idea of regional conferences. It held the first ever PNAA Western Regional Conference. The concept was first introduced during the midyear conference in Virginia Beach, VA. With no funding from PNAA, PNANC proceeded to name the event PNAA Western Regional Conference.

The PNANC newsletter, the PNANC Torch was a winning entry submitted by Isabel Balilea, RN in a chapter-wide search for a newsletter name in 1985.

The PNANC's Pete-Reuben Calixto was the first male president of the Philippine Nurses Association of America.
